The Lake Valhalla Club
Hello! I have no idea how you ended up here. You must've gone pretty deep into the Google results. Good for you! But please keep in mind this was written and published in 2013 and is most likely pretty out of date information! I'm still a photographer though, and you can still check me out at johngallino.com |
The
Lake Valhalla Club is a cute little rustic venue fittingly located on the shores of Lake Valhalla in Montville not far from Route 287. It is cute. It is little. It can get a bit cramped with over 150 people, and that is its main drawback in my opinion.
Barring that, I like its unconventional "English Tudor style" interiors complete with fireplaces and candles. The wedding I shot here was in late fall, so by the time the reception began it was already quite dark outside. Unfortunately that meant it was dark inside too as the ballroom is lit by only a few chandeliers. It's nice if you're into that kind of ambiance though.
Despite some chilly weather, Kim and Rich had their ceremony outside on the lake beach and the view it offers is beautiful with the water and rolling hills behind. At night they light a fire pit on the beach which can be a relaxing place for guests to hang out away from the dance floor.
The cocktail hour at this wedding took place in a tent on the side of the building which had to be warmed up with space heaters due to the time of year.
If the English Tudor style and lake view appeal to you, this venue is definitely worth a look. Though I think it'd be best for a day wedding in the warmer months to fully take advantage of its lovely location.
More photos after the jump.

Plenty of seating to relax and watch the lake. Unfortunately this day was pretty cold! |

View of the back of the venue. To the left you can just barely see the tent for Cocktail Hour. |

There's always the risk of weather with outdoor weddings. Here Rich is helping Kim with her veil which is attacking her face on this windy afternoon. |
|
This is pretty much the whole room. Small and intimate. |
|
Here you can see the darkness of the entryway, and the DJ's booth in the balcony above the dancefloor. |

This gives you an idea of the size of the dancefloor |
